Otoplasty
(Ear Pinning)
Otoplasty, also known as ear pinning, can be a life-changing procedure for those with prominent ears that noticeably stick out. This common concern can significantly impact self-esteem, particularly during adolescence. Many young women (and men) go to great lengths to hide their ears—often wearing their hair down or avoiding hairstyles that expose them.
At SkinCentre, our Mohs reconstructive surgeons—experts in rebuilding ears after skin cancer surgery—bring their advanced skills and precision to otoplasty. Using refined surgical techniques, they gently reshape the cartilage within the ear to create a more natural and balanced position. The skin is then carefully sutured to hold the ear in its new, discreet placement.
This is a day-stay procedure performed under local anaesthetic. After surgery, you’ll wear a protective dressing and head wrap for the first three days, followed by a supportive headband for three weeks. We use dissolvable sutures, so there’s no need for suture removal.
If prominent ears have been a source of self-consciousness, otoplasty could offer the confidence boost you’ve been looking for.
