Dr Catherine Smith

Dermatologist | MBBS, MRCP (UK), 

Dr Catherine Smith is a UK-trained Dermatologist with extensive experience in medical dermatology. Having graduated from the University of Exeter Medical School in 2012, she trained and worked in the UK, most notably spending seven years at Torbay Hospital in Devon, where she progressed from specialty training to working as a Locum Consultant Dermatologist. She obtained her Membership of the Royal College of Physicians (MRCP) in 2016 and passed the dermatology speciality certificate examination in 2019.

Catherine has a strong academic background, with multiple publications in the British Medical Journal (BMJ) and experience as a peer reviewer for the Journal of the European Academy of Dermatology and Venereology (JEADV). She has presented on a range of dermatological topics at both national and international conferences, reflecting her commitment to ongoing education and contribution to the wider dermatology community.

Clinically, Catherine has a particular interest in medical dermatology, including the management of inflammatory skin conditions such as eczema, psoriasis, and acne, as well as paediatric dermatology. She is known for her compassionate and thorough approach, ensuring each patient receives tailored care suited to their individual needs.

After relocating to New Zealand with her family—her husband, a local GP, and their two young boys—Catherine continues to bring her expertise and passion for dermatology to her new community.

Outside of her clinical work, she is an enthusiastic triathlete and fitness advocate, enjoying yoga, running, and all forms of physical training.
